Below is a report of what NC Baptists are doing in Haiti
at this moment...
Currently,
North Carolina Baptists have 2 medical teams in Haiti. They
had to fly into the Dominican Republic but the first team was able
to get into Haiti on Friday (1-15-2010). The second team of 13
people got into Haiti on Wednesday (1-20-2010). They have been
working hard at a hospital and meeting many needs in Haiti since
January 15. We have taken in many medical supplies and we have
bought supplies in the Dominican Republic and taken them into Haiti.
A third
medical team is leaving for Haiti on Sunday, January 24. They
will also fly to the Dominican Republic and drive across the border
into Haiti. There are 13 people on this team. They are taking many
needed medical items into Haiti. Right now the needs are medical and
very specialized, but in the future we will have many more
opportunities for volunteers with other skills to be used in Haiti.
Potential volunteers can
sign up on our website. We are looking at being involved in
Haiti for a long time.
At this
time we are accepting monetary donations only.
You may do this in several ways:
- Go to our website
http://www.baptistsonmission.org/Projects/disasterrelief/2010Response/Haiti.aspx,
click on the button Donate Now. You will be taken to a page that
shows the option of donating in several different monetary
denominations. Follow the instructions.
- On the convention website (www.ncbaptist.org),
there is a button on the right side of the home page which will
direct persons to a place where they may donate via a credit
card. This is the same donation section as on the NCBM website.
- You may send a check to:

Park Ridge Hospital Relief Trip
Thanks to all of you who helped in getting much needed mats
to Haiti through the ministry of Park Ridge Hospital. Thanks also to
Charlie and Sherry Watson for bringing the project to our attention.
Charlie recently shared this latest update with us from Park Ridge:
Afternoon -
I'm pleased to share that the Park Ridge team this weekend returned
safe from Haiti.
The last 4 days became a blur as we began to sense our time slipping
away - the team worked late into the night doing surgeries.
Now that I have constant internet access again (was a challenge down
there) - I'll update the blog daily with the rest of the stories.
We will be sharing images and stories of the trip at a future date
as well. The mats were an incredible success!
Of the 100's of surgeries the team did - there were only 2
amputations -and one was a finger. The reports off nothing but
amputations being done in Haiti simply aren't true.
The Haitian people coming to the Adventist hospital received
exceptional US quality care thanks to the dedication of our nurses
and physicians and even our bio-medical engineer!
Please watch for new photos very soon -

Thanks for your prayers and support!
