Grassy
Branch Baptist Church was organized in the fall of 1949,
here in the Riceville community of Asheville, NC. Since then, it
has outgrown two buildings, and currently meets in the new
sanctuary, built in 1986. Since 1949, six men have served as Pastor
of Grassy Branch Baptist Church. Among them, Dr. Kenneth Ridings,
currently the President of Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute, had
the longest tenure of 22 years, and saw the church through its
largest period of growth.
The church has always held very close to the fundamentals of the
faith, while maintaining a warm, loving, and generous fellowship of
believers. The vision of the ministry of the church extends well
beyond its walls. In addition to supporting local missions, Grassy
Branch supports several missions throughout the world. We look
forward to continuing the mission and vision this church has had for
over 50 years. We also anticipate God doing a fresh work in the
hearts and lives of the people of Grassy Branch.
